Comet  C/2020 F3 (NEOWISE)
C/2020 F3 (NEOWISE) is a retrograde comet discovered on March 27, 2020, by the NEOWISE space telescope.

With a visual magnitude of 7 in mid-June, it passed perihelion on July 3, 2020, at 0.43 million km from the Sun. This close passage to the Sun significantly increased its activity, making it easily visible to the naked eye, with a magnitude of around +1.

After its perihelion passage, the comet developed a second tail made of gas, with the ion tail appearing blue and clearly visible in photographs. The other tail consists of dust.

It passed closest to Earth on July 23, 2020, at a distance of 103 million km. It was visible in the constellation Ursa Major from July 17 to July 29, 2020.
